Nelson de Souza is the Minister of Planning of Portugal since 19.feb. He was born in India, in 1954, and graduated in Finance from Instituto Superior de Economia. He was also manager of structural funds programmes for industry and competitiveness. He held the position of General Director at the Portuguese Industrial Association and of Municipal Director of Finance at the Lisbon City Hall. At government level, he was Secretary of State for Small and Medium Enterprises, Trade and Services and Secretary of State for Development and Cohesion. He is responsible for the economic and social development strategies, taking into account the objectives of convergence and cohesion.
