European citizens must benefit from the economic and social impact of Europe’s digital transformation. Therefore, there is an urgent need to join forces among all levels of government in the EU to make European cities and communities of all sizes smart and sustainable.
Through an ambitious political declaration “Join, Boost, Sustain”, public authorities’ decision-makers commit to pursue the digital transformation of cities and communities following the ‘European way’; boosting the upscaling of digital solutions and ensuring technological leadership in Europe, while respecting European values and citizen digital rights.
The highlight of the session will be the formal signature ceremony of the Declaration on ‘Joining forces to boost sustainable digital transformation in Europe’s cities and communities’ available at https://living-in.eu/ . A panel discussion, consisting of local, regional and national government representatives, will discuss how a strong collaboration among different levels of government can result in effectively meeting climate targets, make cities work better and improve quality of life through solutions developed with and for citizens. The session will highlight inspiring use cases of local communities that have successfully implemented integrated smart city solutions based on open, interoperable and scalable local digital platforms.
