Since the Urban Agenda for the EU has been formally established (Pact of Amsterdam, 2016) a lot has been achieved.
Fourteen partnerships have been set-up around different urban issues, a ‘One-stop-shop for cities’ web portal has been created (helping cities to find all relevant EU programs/ initiatives supporting urban development - from Cohesion Policy to Horizon 2020), contributing to the New Urban Agenda and the SDGs, a brochure was published on the Urban Agenda for the EU “multi-level governance in action” etc
Three years after the Pact of Amsterdam, the European Commission (DG REGIO) conducted an Assessment Study on the Urban Agenda for the EU (UAEU).
The outcomes of this assessment study will be presented at this workshop.
The objective of this assessment study is to holistically assess the implementation and performance of UAEU and explore possible ways to improve the UAEU in view of its future implementation.
A stakeholder consultation has been part of this assessment (which closed end of June 2019).
The assessment of the UAEU has been announced in the European Commission report to the Council on the Urban Agenda for the EU (2017)
